Q4W9 It is done....
Dear Parents-
This week, we hand back over your sweet that was entrusted to us approximately nine months ago. In that nine months, I have been privileged to watch students grow in varying aspects and accomplish hard things. It has been my pleasure and privilege (most days 😉) to witness this. There is a special place in my heart for each of my students and I will always be interested in them and welcome hellos. I look forward to the day when our paths cross again. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to learn from your baby. Have a great summer.
Here is a look at the week:
Monday: Balancing Equations and school wide locker clean out
Tuesday: 8th grade promotion practice and picnic
Wednesday: Balancing Equation practice and 8th grade formal that evening (6:00-9:00 @ Bartlett Municipal Center)
Thursday: 8th grade promotion (students should arrive at the church at 9:00 for a 9:30 prompt beginning. Students should not be in jeans)
Friday: school dismisses at 11:30
Finally- for my students:
Class of 2023!
Wow!, has it really been nine months, I feel like I was just getting to know many of you in between class and assignments? As I reflected this past week watching you in the hall and enter class, I was reminded of my initial impressions of you and how many were inaccurate. As much as I enjoy teaching know that I have enjoyed you more; your ideas as crazy (as they may be), your personality, and your uniqueness. Your potential is limitless, and you have taken challenges, persevered and overcome them, becoming only better. Many of you have tremendous effort into your learning, despite the eye rolling or complaints, and have come farther than you know. Do not ever be afraid of a productive struggle or things that may challenge you. You can do it! I have loved challenging you, even frustrating you, and pushing your further than you thought you could go, but to see when you get is, leaves me speechless. You are better today than were you yesterday.
I have loved watching each of you grow into the best versions of you, even those who needed a little more redirection, and I tried to give you my best efforts daily. You are better today than were you yesterday. As much as I want you to remember content and that science is life, I hope more you remember to be kind and expect the best in yourself and others. Forgive me if there was a time, I was not what you needed. Please know that my door is always open, and I hope to hear in the future how you are doing. Work hard as you begin your high school journey, set goals and believe in yourself. You will have many more teachers, teachers that inspire you and help you bring out your best, even though at the time, you do not realize it, but I hope you always remember me because I will always remember you.
I leave you with one of my favorite quotes:
"When the winds of adversity come, remember one thing--kites fly the very highest against the wind. Kites don't fly in spite of opposition, kites fly high because of opposition. In fact, they couldn't fly without opposition."
The teacher you like and dislike in the same breath 😉,
