Fletcher Cleaves to Speak at BLMS Gold Award Celebration
Bio from Fletcher:
My name is Fletcher D. Cleaves, in May of 2009 I graduated from Cordova High School in Memphis TN. After graduation I was awarded a football scholarship to attend Lambuth University in Jackson TN but on September 10th, 2009 I was involved in a serious car accident where a distracted driver, presumed to have been texting and driving, ran me off the road. While trying to avoid them I swerved off the road and flipped into an embankment. The accident left me paralyzed from the chest down.
After an entire year of rehabilitation and learning how to adapt to my new disability, I transferred schools and moved closer to home. It was difficult in the beginning because I had to relearn simple tasks such as holding a pencil and eating but as time went on I adapted and I am now a graduate from the University of Memphis with a degree in Computer Science.
