Hello, Welcome to my website!

My name is Chandra Smith, and I am a sixth grade Science teacher. I can not wait to start the 2019-2020 school year.  I am ready to meet some new students and new favorite kids and have a great time learning this year.

Dec 1-5

We are back to work after what was I hope a wonderful break for everyone.
This week we are wrapping up chapter 12 and there will be a TEST ON THURSDAY.
We will start chapter 13 on Friday and will continue to work on it until the winter break.

Week of 11/10

This week we are going to wrap up our weather study.  Monday we are working on station models which are really fun.
Tuesday we will be off :)
Wednesday we will work on storms and the remainder of section 3
Thursday their will be a quiz.
Friday we begin to review for a TEST ON TUESDAY THE 18th.

Halloween week/Red ribbon week!

We are having a great time this week, showing our school spirit and celebrating being drug free!
We had a test Tuesday, and Today (Wednesday), we are in the lab doing some inquiry lessons for the next chapter on Weather. 
Tomorrow we will wrap up the lab and start looking at chapter 11.  The quiz for section 1 will be on Tuesday of next week. 

Week of 10/20

This week we will cover section 3 of chapter 10.  We will talk about wind and how it works.  There will be a quiz over section 3 on Thursday. Friday we will start reviewing for a test the following Tuesday.

Week of 9/22

Next week we will continue section 3 of chapter 15 and have a quiz on Tuesday.

We will review Tuesday and Wednesday for a chapter test on Thursday. Be looking for a study guide to come home Tuesday.

9/12 and week of 9/15

We have entered the wonderful world of electricity, and today we are having fun with circuits.  The students are building their own in the lab!

Next week we will continue exploring circuits with a Quiz on Wednesday over section 2 of chapter 15.  Thursday we will start section 3, and remember, there is no school Friday.

9/5 and week of 9/8

We have finished section 2 and have some very creative Rube Goldberg machines designed by your student!  They have fun with that assignment.  We are talking about section 3 today which includes power plants and energy sources.


Week of 9/8 Don't forget to turn in dance information!! Dance will be this Friday

We will talk more about section 3 Monday and have a short Quiz on Tuesday.

The next chapter is 15 and covers electricity, always a fun chapter! Note cards for section 1 will be due on Thursday.

8/27 and Labor day week

We have started section 2 of chapter 14, and today we are completing a great virtual lab.  Ask your students about it, or google for yourself (phet skatepark).  It is a really great way to see conservation of energy in action in a real world setting.

We will continue to work on section 2 next week with a quiz on Wednesday.

That means we will start section 3 of chapter 14 on Wednesday and Vocabulary cards will be due on Friday.

We will wrap up section 1 of chapter 14 on Monday, be ready for a quiz on Tuesday!

We will start section 2 on Tuesday after our quiz, note cards will be Due on Thursday.

Week of 8/11

This week we are wrapping up Scientific method in all my classes and we will have a quiz on Friday!

Next week we will start energy, Chapter 14!

Students will be responsible for reading the sections as assigned at home, as well as completing note cards for vocabulary words.  Please see my links for information on how to complete the cards (student will be taught in class).
