Q3W5 (Feb 5-9) & HS Registration info
Good afternoon parents!
Today your child had guidance during math class to begin the registration process for high school. They received lots of papers for you to look at with them and discuss to help begin the journey for the next 4 years. They will be bringing home a yellow card - 9thgrade registration form, a white paper – 4 year high school plan, white card – high school focus elective clusters, blue paper (optional) - honors course/contract. They completed a majority of these forms today with the assistance of Ms. Sumlar. These forms need to be completed and signed by you and your student to be turned in between February 20-23. Your child will have an appointment time to sit down with Ms. Sumlar on one of those days and check all the paperwork before it is sent over to the high school.
2 additional pieces of information –
- If your child wants to sign up for an honors course for next year, your child musthave had a 90 or higher at Year 1 for their teacher to recommend them. We cannot sign the form for 89 or below regardless of how well they are doing now or how well we think they can perform. This is nothing against your child or their abilities now or for the future. This is set by the high school and we must all follow and be consistent with recommendations.
- You will find attached two additional pieces of information from the 9th grade Academy. PLEASE read!!
Preview Night @ Bartlett 9th grade Academy – Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 from 5-7pm.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions! You can Ms. Sumlar ([email protected]) with additional questions or concerns.

Q3W0.5-1
Welcome back and Happy New Year. Hopefully you each enjoyed time with family, memories, many smiles, and minimal tears. Students will be receiving some new math resources over the next week and access to on-line helps through a new platform called GoMath. Also, please make sure that your student has a calculator to bring to math class every day. If you need to buy one, I highly recommend the TI30XIIS or the TI30XS Multiview.

Q2 Test – cumulative for all skills learned so far this school year.
The end of Semester 1 is quickly approaching. We have worked very hard this quarter and are (almost) ready for a much deserved break! Our 8th grade math students will have their final semester cumulative test this Friday. Students have known about this test/date for weeks. It should not be a surprise to them! All classes have received a Study Guide and should be working on them every night this week to prepare for their test. Study Guides are due by the end of class Thursday. Since this is a final cumulative test, there will not be a FIT for this. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask.
Q2W8 (Dec 4-8)
Happy December! In math this quarter we have been working on Multiple Representations of Linear Functions and Equations – we had a challenging PowerSchool Assessment unit test Friday with lots of students making great grades – YAY!! – they should be very proud. We also had many students asking for a FIT before the test even started. Students were given several opportunities to help study and prepare for this test but did not take it. If your child wants to complete FIT for the assignment from Friday – the following requirements must be met: 1) Linear Equations Review (practice) DeltaMath @ a 100% complete. 2) Quizizz (code 129796) – Multiple Representation Review Assignment above a 90% and 3) all scratch work (there should be lots of this) turned in to show there was work effort put in in order to redo the assignment. All 3 items must be completed by next Friday, December 8. The FIT retake will be given on Monday, December 11.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! Also, your child does know what they made on the PSA computer assessment today even though it is not in PowerSchool yet. Thank you so much for helping your child be successful! Here is a look at the week ahead but please remember that plans are subject to change.
