Welcome

¡Bienvenidos to Spanish class!

Being bilingual will provide you with many wonderful opportunities, Spanish is the second most spoken language in the world (and the easiest to learn). The goal for this class is to build the students vocabulary, and participate in short conversations, students in this class will be acquiring a second language. Acquired proficiency come from our unconscious internal mental representation of the language, a linguistic system we build in our minds, and not from learned facts, lists, and formulae.

Spanish 1 Honors (8th grade) will be credit  as a High school class, and will count towards the graduation requirements, this opportunity will give the student the advantage of getting a head start in the second language acquisition. Students in Honors class will be able to participate in the National Spanish Examinations, (The National Spanish Examinations are online, standardized assessment tools), which will give the students the opportunity to earn scholarships thru the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP).

I am looking forward to a great year of Spanish!

Education: Bachelor of Business Administration, Master in Arts of Teaching.

Experience: Two years in the Bilingual Optional school at Shelby County Schools, this is my eighth year at BLMS.

It’s official… we're going to Greece & Italy

Dear families,

We’re going to Greece & Italy in Summer 2027, and you’re invited!

We’re excited to tell you more about the trip we’re planning with EF Tours, our educational travel partner. Please be sure to register for this info session to be considered for this opportunity: https://bit.ly/4dNEWWi

When students travel, they expand their knowledge of the world around them, discover more about themselves, and grow more confident. These skills are critical for creating the global citizens of tomorrow, and we would love to have your student join us on this adventure.

In this info session, we’ll talk about:

  • How this opportunity will benefit your student
  • What we’ll see and do on our trip
  • Everything that’s included in this experience
  • How your child can earn academic credit
  • How we’re keeping this safe and affordable
  • How to enroll on this trip (before it fills up!) during EF’s risk-free enrollment period

*RSVP’ing in advance and attending the meeting is mandatory to receive $200 off your tour, unless communicated to Ms. Moore otherwise*

Thanks,

Ms. Silvia Moore
